Spruce Grove-Stony Plain hopefuls for NDP, UCP, Alberta Party participate
MLA hopefuls for Spruce Grove-Stony Plain sat face to face at last night's local election forum.
The Spruce Grove and Stony Plain Chambers of Commerce hosted Searle Turton from the UCP, Stony Plain NDP incumbent Erin Babcock, and Ivan Boles of the Alberta Party. Jody Crocker from the Alberta Independence Party was not in attendance, and was represented by his St. Albert counterpart, Sheldon Gron.
Some of the most popular topics on the night were the carbon tax, economic revitalization, and the evolution of the oil industry.
One of the livelier discussion points came when talking about healthcare, as Turton was asked to clarify whether his party plans to privatize healthcare, like the United States.
Babcock told the crowd that being part of the solution for healthcare was a main reason she was inspired to run four years ago.
Meanwhile, Boles used some of his debate time too look for holes in the two major party's platforms.
Alberta will head to the polls on Tuesday, April 16.
You can find full interviews with Boles, Crocker, and Turton posted online at http://www.881theone.ca/.
An interview with Babcock will be added next week.
