Stony Plain native wins silver medal at Bobsled World Cup

Stony Plain's Christine de Bruin and her teammate Kristen Bujnowski have taken the silver medal at the Bobsled World Cup.

Stony Plain has been represented on the international bobsleigh stage.

Christine de Bruin, along with teammate Kristen Bujnowski finished the women's race in two minutes 1.64 seconds, good enough to grab second place at the Bobsled World Cup in La Plagne, France. They were only 0.21 seconds behind the gold medal time, set by Germany's Laura Nolte and Deborah Levi.

De Bruin hails from Stony Plain, went to the University of Alberta and currently trains and resides in Calgary. It was the second podium finish of the season for her and Bujnowski, after winning bronze at an event in Lake Placid, New York before the holiday break.
