Matchup vs Morinville starts Saturday
The Stony Plain Flyers head coach says he's not worried about his team's underdog status as they head into the CJHL playoffs on Saturday.
The Morinville Jets finished 10 points ahead of the Flyers in regular season play.
Despite this, Flyers head coach, Merv Ethier says the season series against the Jets was close, with his team's losses coming in one shootout and one overtime game.
He says their year was plagued with injuries, along with goaltending that hasn't played to its full potential, but he's confident heading into the best-of-three series.
"Just as long as we play 60 minutes of hockey, stay out of the penalty box, and stick to the game plan and just get pucks to the net, we'll be fine," he said.
"This year I think any team can be beaten, and that's been proven through all the other games. It's just who's going to come out and play? I know that playoffs is a totally different game."
The best-of-three series starts in Morinville on Saturday, with Game Two coming to Glenn Hall Arena on Monday at 8:00.
