Saints win both games on Thanksgiving weekend

The Spruce Grove Saints won both of their games on the Thanksgiving long weekend, and improved their record to 10-2-0 on the season.

On Friday night, the Saints took down the Whitecourt Wolverines 6-2. The Saints had six different goal scorers in the game: Brett Trentham, Ryan Peckford, Seth Fyten, Cam Mitchell, Jordan Biro and Colson Gengenbach. Matt Davis started the game for the Saints, turning aside 16 of 18 shots he faced, and fashioning himself a 7-1-0 record.

After beating the Wolverines, the Saints took on the Fort MacMurray Oil Barons on Sunday afternoon at home, and once again came away victorious with a 5-2 win. Peckford had another strong game, scoring a goal and adding two assists to give him 20 points on the year. He currently sits fifth in AJHL scoring. Maxence Duschene didn't see much action in the game, facing only 15 shots and stopping 13.

The Saints next game comes on the road against the Bonnyville Pontiacs on Friday.
