Saints' trio named to AJHL's Junior Club World Cup squad

Davis, Mitchell, Biro off to Russia in August

Three returning members of the Spruce Grove Saints will suit up overseas before the start of the upcoming season.

Goaltender Matt Davis and centres Cam Mitchell and Jordan Biro have all been named to Team AJHL for the upcoming Junior Club World Cup in Russia.

Team AJHL will represent Canada at the tournament, which also features teams from Austria, the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States.

In his rookie season, Davis finished first among starting goaltenders in goals against average, and led all goalies with a playoff GAA of 2.01.

Mitchell and Biro finished fifth and sixth in team scoring respectively, each in their second year as Saints.

Mitchell added 10 points in 14 playoff games, while Biro has already committed to the University of Denver for 2020.

The tournament is being held from August 23-31 in Sochi, with the team set to go to Moscow a week early to hold a pre-tournament camp.
