Spruce Grove winning streak hits seven
The Spruce Grove Saints rattled off three straight wins this past weekend, coming back to beat Drayton Valley Friday, before back to back wins against Lloydminster on Saturday and Sunday.
Friday night, the Saints trailed 2-1 heading into the third period, before goals from Nick Leyer and Logan Ganie gave the team a 3-2 lead it would keep until the final buzzer.
On Saturday night, the Saints used five second period goals to beat the Bobcats in Lloydminster 7-1.
Logan Ganie continued his hot weekend with 2 goals and 3 assists on the night, as rookie defenceman Cameron Chin set a career high with a three-point night.
When it was all said and done, 12 of the 18 Saints skaters had at least a point on the night.
In Sunday’s rematch, some key veterans including Ryan Peckford and Parker Saretsky got the afternoon off, as the team played its third game in 43 hours.
Ganie picked up another two goals, including the winner on the powerplay in the third, while Seth Fyten also scored twice, and Dylan Bourlai had three assists in the 4-1 win.
Matt Davis picked up wins on Friday and Sunday, while Liam McCloskey took the W on Saturday.
Up next, the Saints hit the road for the final time this regular season on Wednesday night with a trip to Bonnyville.
