Spruce Grove Saints defenceman TJ Lloyd has been nominated as one of the best at his position across Canada.

This season's captain is one of the nominees for the Canadian Junior Hockey League’s Top Defenceman Award.

The CJHL encompasses ten recognized Junior A leagues from coast to coast, including the AJHL.

Other nominees for the award are James Miller from the Penticton Vees, Zack Hoffman from the Navan Grads, Marc-Éric Bourque from the Titan de Princeville, and Kyle Auger of the Thunder Bay North Stars.

Auger set an SIJHL record this season for points by a defenceman, with 102 points in his 53 games, while Miller led the entire Vees roster in scoring with 62 points.

Meanwhile Lloyd won the league's Outstanding Defenceman award, and captained Team Canada West at the 2018 World Junior A Challenge.

Winners of the CJHL awards will be announced at the National Junior A Championships in Brooks next week.
