Jordan Biro scores winner in extra time
The Spruce Grove Saints are coming off a big 3-2 overtime win over the Calgary Mustangs last night.
The Saints led 1-0 after 1, thanks to a goal from rookie defenceman Jaxsen Wyatt off the rush.
After Noah Kim tied it in the second, fellow rookie blueliner Cameron Chin found the back of the net less than 90 seconds later, to give the Saints a 2-1 lead through 40 minutes.
For Chin, his goal was his second in as many games, after scoring against Whitecourt on Sunday afternoon.
Despite outshooting the Mustangs in the third, Calgary had the only goal off the stick of Scott Nicholson, which sent the game to overtime.
With under a minute and a half to play, Logan Ganie took a pass in the slot, cut wide, and hit Jordan Biro back-door, whose eighth of the year won it for Spruce Grove.
The Saints finish the two-game road trip tonight in Okotoks, with a season series rubber match against the Oilers.
The Saints edged them 2-1 in a showcase game in September, while the Oilers beat the Saints 5-1 in Spruce Grove back in early January.
Puck drop tonight is set for 7 pm.
