Saints bury Bobcats over back-to-back nights

Lloydminster outscored 9-3 in losses

The Spruce Grove Saints' 2018/19 campaign is off to a rocking start.

The team picked up two straight wins over the Lloydminster Bobcats to open up the season over the weekend weekend.

Friday night, the teams were tied after the first period, before the Saints pulled away over the final 40.

Tanner Hickey’s shorthanded goal in the second stood up as the winner, while Dylan Bourlai added a third period empty netter, in the Saints 5-2 win.

On Saturday, Bourlai scored for the second straight night, in a game that was even after 40 minutes.

But the Saints once again finished strong, getting two third-period goals from Cam Mitchell, and another Parker Saretsky, as Spruce Grove skated to a 4-1 win.

The Saints are back in action at home on Wednesday night, where they’ll host the Camrose Kodiaks.

Camrose lost its opener Friday night, as the Okotoks Oilers came from behind to beat them 6-4.

The Kodiaks suffered another setback on Saturday, dropping a 4-1 decision to the Drumheller Dragons.

Puck drop on Wednesday is at 7:00, and is the featured Game of the Week right here on 88.1 The One.
