Saints blank Bobcats

Spruce Grove beats last-place Lloyd for fourth time

The Spruce Grove Saints sent the Lloydminster Bobcats packing last night, with a 4-0 win on Family Day.

The Saints got off to a bit of a slow start, and were outshot 10-9 in a scoreless first period.

That all changed in the second, when Spruce Grove rattled off three goals from Seth Fyten, Jordan Biro, and Ryan Peckford, en route to a 29-shot period.

Biro has had a hot hand recently, with five points in his last three games.

That’s not including the game-winner in the shootout against Okotoks last Friday night.

Same goes for Peckford, who’s scored points in seven straight, with 4 goals and 11 points.

In the third, the Saints iced the win with a powerplay goal from Logan Ganie just 43 seconds in.

Meanwhile Matt Davis stopped 24 shots to give him his sixth shutout on the season.

Up next for the Saints, a visit from the Drayton Valley Thunder on Friday night, where Spruce Grove is looking for a clean sweep of the season series.
