The earliest it could return is in March.
Hockey Alberta recently announced that the 2020-21 season will not be resuming this year.
The move comes as a result of the ongoing restrictions by the province, and the association says they will try to see if they can facilitate a spring development season.
A number of leagues including the Northern Alberta Interlock and Northern Alberta Hockey League, as well as the Rural and Edmonton Minor Hockey League and the Alberta Elite and Female Hockey League will be impacted.
Under the current restrictions put in by the province, the earliest minor hockey could return is March 1st.
Meanwhile, a decision about a possible return to play for Junior B teams including the Spruce Grove Regals and Stony Plain Flyers isn't expected until next week.
The Western Hockey League also announced last week that all major junior teams in Alberta including the Edmonton Oil Kings would return to play later this month and take part in a shortened 24-game season.
