The Oilers will now prepare for their main match this Saturday against Chicago.

Former Spruce Grove Saints defenceman Matt Benning had an assist as the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Calgary Flames 4-1 in a Battle of Alberta exhibition game last night.

The assist from Benning came four minutes after the Flames answered with a powerplay goal from Elias Lindholm. Benning found Ryan Nugent-Hopkins who took a weak shot at former Oiler Cam Talbot who saw the puck bounce off his pad to Patrick Russell who flicked it in for the goal.

With the win, the Oilers will now prepare for their main match this Saturday when they take on Patrick Kane and the Chicago Blackhawks.

Puck drop takes place this Saturday at 1 pm.
