Update: Man charged in St. Albert kidnapping

A suspect has been charged after being arrested in a kidnapping in St. Albert on May 26. 
 
21-year-old Brian Hosack from Cochrane will face nine charges of:

  • Forcible Confinement
  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Fail to Stop after an Accident
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault of a Police Officer with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public
  • Uttering Threats
  • Mischief to private property

 
A court date has been set for June 24.

St. Albert RCMP continue to investigate a report of a kidnapping that led to a police pursuit on Sunday.RCMP say at around 9:30 that night, they received a report of a man being held against his will inside a 2008 green Hyundai car.

Officers located the suspect vehicle near the intersection of St. Albert Trail and McKenney Avenue where the driver struck an unmarked police vehicle that was attempting to assist in the traffic stop.

Both vehicles sustained front end damage, but the suspect continued towards Edmonton without stopping and a police pursuit ensued.

As the chase carried into Edmonton, Edmonton Police and Air One were requested for assistance.

The driver eventually came to a stop at a dead end near RE/MAX Field, where the driver was arrested.

The passenger of the vehicle, who was identified as the victim in this investigation, received minor injuries from this incident.

The police officer whose car was hit during the chase and the suspect driver also received minor injuries.

RCMP say this investigation is continuing and charges are pending
