Stops will be added just west of Highway 43 and the Yellowhead in both east and westbound directions.
Three new road side rest stops have been announced, with two coming to Parkland County.
Earlier today, the province announced its goal to improve road safety by providing more places for drivers to rest. These sites also create future commercial opportunities for gas stations and restaurants to be built.
Parkland County will be receiving two of these additions just west of Highway 43 and the Yellowhead Highway, near Carvel corner. Stops will be constructed for both east and westbound traffic. The province estimates that 7215 vehicles travel in both directions every day.
The third rest area comes to the QEII southbound, just north of Lacombe. The province is also supporting development of a new private-sector rest stop near Bowden.
A timeline for construction has not been announced, but the project is expected to support 89 jobs, with costs estimated at 20 million dollars.
