Traffic being rerouted at HWY 16A and Range Road 20 following collision

Parkland RCMP says eastbound traffic is being diverted on Highway 16A from the intersection of Highway 16 until Range Road 15. Traffic on Range Road 20 is unable to cross Highway 16A in either direction.

Parkland RCMP is currently on the scene of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 16A and Range Road 20.

Eastbound traffic is being diverted and drivers are requested to avoid the area.

Police say at around 12:30 this afternoon, a southbound pickup truck traveling on Range Road 20 collided with an eastbound SUV.

The male driver of the pickup was left uninjured. The man driving the SUV was taken to an Edmonton hospital via STARS Air Ambulance, while his female passenger was taken in a ground ambulance. The extent of their injuries is still unknown.

Eastbound traffic is being diverted on Highway 16A from the intersection of Highway 16 until Range Road 15. Traffic on Range Road 20 is unable to cross Highway 16A in either direction.

All factors of the collision are being investigated although initial investigation shows that neither weather conditions or alcohol are a contributing factor. An update will be provided when the situation changes.
