Railway tree-planting grant also part of party in the park
Stony Plain is throwing a celebration to mark the opening of Veterans Boulevard.
Coming up on Sunday, September 16, officials will be on hand for a ribbon cutting, along with members of the Stony Plain Legion.
Immediately following that, the town will host a party in the Graybriar park area.
Mayor and council will also plant seven ceremonial trees in the park, as a part of a new 25,000 dollar grant from CN Rail.
With the recent railway twinning project accounting for the removal of some trees, Stony Plain was one of 27 communities to get a grant to replace those trees that were lost.
The event will include free food trucks and music - there's more information on the town's website.
