Stony Plain Fire Department unveil memorial bench and truck

The bench was contributed by members of the fire hall and the new fire truck will serve both Stony Plain and Parkland County.

The Stony Plain Fire Department unveiled a brand new bench and fire truck over the weekend.

On Sunday, Stony Plain Fire Chief Trevor Mistal and members of the fire hall reveled a memorial bench on the east entrance of the fire hall that’s dedicated to those no longer with us that served the fire department over the years.

"We never had a real place to remember our past members before," said Chief Mistal. "I'm very proud to have this spot and there will be more names added to the wall."

Along with the memorial bench, a time capsule was filled and buried beside the bench that will be opened in fifty years.

A new fire truck was also presented by both Chief Mistal and Stony Plain Mayor William Choy that will serve both the town and Parkland County. The new truck will replace Engine 3-1 after twenty years of service.
