Stony Plain businesses honoured at Chamber awards

Music festival, vet clinic among winners

Stony Plain's Chamber of Commerce was handing out the hardware at its annual awards night over the weekend.

This year featured the first ever Award of Creative Excellence, which was designed to recognize creative leaders who help elevate culture in town.

The award's first winner was the Blueberry Bluegrass Festival, which has been around for the past 33 years, and helps bring people to town from all across the continent.

Local artists Daphne Côté and James McKay were the finalists for that category.

Meanwhile, Meridian Vet Clinic took home the Ambassador of Action award, after being nominated for a second year in a row.

Doctors Rob and Vanessa Kyle, and Mike and Steph DeVries opened their first clinic in Spruce Grove five years ago, followed by a second location in Stony Plain in 2016.

Over the last two years, the clinic has created seven new jobs in the community.

Boost Physical Therapy and Whimsical Vintage Creations were also finalists in the category.
