St. Albert RCMP Charge Two in Aggravated Assault

A 50 year old male from Stony Plain was transported to hospital following an aggravated assault.

On Friday May 18th, at approximately 8:30 p.m., St. Albert RCMP responded to a 911 call at Lions Park.

Upon arrival they located a 50 year old male from Stony Plain. The man had to be transported to hospital via ambulance with serious facial injuries, but they were believed to be non-life threatening.

Early on in the investigation, RCMP learned that the man was involved in a soccer game with numerous other people in the park when a verbal disagreement escalated into the assault between the victim and three males. It is believed undisclosed weapons were also present.

Since then, Alexander Przybysz, 20, and Brendan Craig, 18, both of St. Albert were charged with numerous offences including aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. A 17 year old male from Edmonton was also arrested for breaching previous release conditions for matters already before the courts.

Both adults were released from custody on several condition and to appear in St. Albert Provincial Court on June 4th.

RCMP believe this was not a random event and the investigation is ongoing as numerous witnesses are being interviewed.
