Spruce Grove Fire Service braving the cold to support Muscular Dystrophy

The firefighters will campout atop the fire hall until Thursday.

Despite the weather, the Spruce Grove Fire Service is holding their 9th-annual charity event in support of Muscular Dystrophy.

The four firefighters will campout on top of the fire hall roof until Thursday, in the hopes of people stopping-in to donate to the cause. They will also be accepting donations at Save on Foods and Superstore in Spruce Grove at 4:00 p.m. every day until Thursday.

The organizer, Mitchell Balfur, says they were able to raise 35 thousand dollars during last year's campaign.

He says they will be bundled up in full fire gear with extra layers, and have a heater, but he still expects it to be cold.

Muscular dystrophy refers to a number of diseases that cause progressive loss of muscle mass resulting in weakness and sometimes, loss of mobility.
