Local family holding bottle drive for family members cancer treatment

Additionally, a GoFundMe page has been set up to help with the massive expense of treatments.

A family in Spruce Grove is holding a bottle drive to help pay for a family member's costly cancer treatment in Mexico.

Kendall Crowle's sister Courtney Yakimetz was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago at the age of 29. She had a lumpectomy and went through chemotherapy, but 15 months after Courtney finished chemotherapy, and at 28 weeks pregnant, doctors discovered that her cancer had returned which spread to her lungs.

She recently arrived in Mexico to start her treatment and the family estimates that it will cost $10,000 depending on how long she needs to stay.

"Courtney is always involved with the community," says Crowle. "We're hoping to relief some of the stress and not worry about how she will pay for the treatment."

Residents who are interested in donating can drop off their empty bottles under the account Courtney Yakimetz Cancer Fundraiser at the Spruce Grove Bottle Depot. Additionally, a GoFundMe page has been created:
