Spruce Grove's City Manager has decided to call it a career.

Simon Farbtother will step down later this month and begin a new assignment at the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Saudi Arabia.

“I have truly enjoyed my time with the City of Spruce Grove," said Farbrother in a press release by the City of Spruce Grove. "Quite honestly I wasn’t planning to go anywhere, but this is an opportunity I couldn’t refuse. It’s been a privilege and a pleasure to work with this City Council and the staff who all care deeply about this community."

Farbrother served as Spruce Grove's City Manager from 1997 to 2004. He was also the City Manager with the City of Waterloo and City of  Edmonton before returning to Spruce Grove last summer.

An Interim City Manager will start on the 25th.
