Three suspects face combined 12 charges after three investigations.
The Stony Plain/Spruce Grove/Enoch RCMP , alongside other law enforcement agencies, have released information on three drug related arrests in the Tri-Region made over the course of June.
The first came on June 7th, 2018, when the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team, the Alberta Sheriff's Investigative Support Unit and the Stony Plain/Spruce Grove Drug section executed search warrants at two Spruce Grove residences. The search warrants lead to the seizure of 208 grams of cocaine and other drug trafficking paraphernalia.
In connection to this investigation, 28 year old Sean Kenneth Moore of Spruce Grove is facing one count of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. Moore has since been released on bail and his next court appearance is July 11th, 2018 at the Stony Plain Provincial Courthouse.
The second arrest came on June 26th, 2018, when Stony Plain/Spruce Grove RCMP Drug Section members entered an investigation of a man believed to be trafficking cocaine in the Tri-Region. The man was located in a vehicle and arrested without incident, while after the arrest officers seized 246.6 grams of cocaine packaged for individual sale, drug trafficking paraphernalia and $3,169.60 in Canadian currency from the vehicle.
In connection to this incident, 29 year old Francisco Rodas of Edmonton faces three counts of failure to comply with condition of a recognizance, one count of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and one count of property obtained by crime under $5,000. Rodas has since been released from custody with conditions and will appear in court on July 27th, 2018 in Edmonton.
Finally, the third arrest occurred on June 29th, 2018 when members of the Stony Plain/Spruce Grove Drug Section, with assistance from general duty officers, were conducting an investigation in Stony Plain. During the investigation, a man who was known to be breaching his release conditions was spotted driving a stolen pickup truck. RCMP officers attempted to stop the vehicle at the time, but it was later located in a parking lot shortly afterwards by Drug Section officers. The man was arrested and appeared to have stashed a large purse nearby.
Upon inspecting the purse, officers recovered 150 grams of methamphetamine, drug trafficking paraphernalia, stolen identity documents and a small amount of fentanyl.
In connection to this investigation, 51 year old Gary Jody Mongeon of Spruce Grove faces the following charges:
- Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
- Flight from police
- Possession of property obtained by crime
- Identity theft
- Possession of fentanyl
- Breach of recognizance
Mongeon remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Stony Plain Provincial Court today, July 4th, 2018, to face the charges.
