School Division preaching patience with local construction

Longer commutes expected to local schools next week

Parkland School Division is asking for patience and vigilance as some local construction will make it tough to get some kids to school next week.

It says specifically the construction around John Paul II in Stony Plain and Milgrove in Spruce Grove will make things tough for transportation, during the first few weeks when delays often happen anyway.

With Highway 779 closed north of Highway 628 in Stony Plain, the School Division says buses will be using the same Willow Park detour as all other drivers.

At Millgrove, Marlboro Drive is still under construction, and drivers will likely be routed through Marmot Avenue and Marlin Street.

However, the back alley leading to the school is expected to be back to normal this weekend.

Increased construction around Woodhaven is also expected to cause delays, though access to the school from King Street is still intact.

PSD says it encourages parents and students to plan on taking extra time to get to school.
