Voting opens Friday, March 29 at 10 a.m to win $250,000 dollar prize
The voting for Kraft Hockeyville opens today, and a local community is one of four finalists for the $250,000 prize.
Rich Valley is fighting for the grant to buy the arena a new ice plant, after its main component failed just before the season began.
Steven Borle is part of the community’s campaign, and says the lack of ice has had a huge effect locally.
“We had to cancel all of our hockey and figure skating programs, everything…The arena is a big help for us. All the community members would meet for free public skating on Fridays, where everyone would get together and skate, have coffee, and visit. It was devastating to our community to lose our arena this year,” he said.
A full day of events will be going on at the Rich Valley Arena on Saturday. The day will kick-off with a pancake breakfast from 8 until 10:30, and will be followed by a barbecue serving hot dogs and Kraft Dinner, starting at 3:00.
Online voting is unlimited and starts at 10:00 on Friday and closes at 6:30 on Saturday night. The winner will be announced during Saturday night’s Hockey Night in Canada broadcast between 8:30 and 9:00.
