RCMP Vehicle Rammed on Highway

One woman in custody; charged after late night pursuit.

The local RCMP have arrested and charged a woman after a marked police vehicle was intentionally rammed earlier this week.

The incident in question occurred around 2:45 a.m. on January 1st as authorities say a marked RCMP truck was transporting a prisoner from the Paul Band First Nation to the detachment in Stony Plain.  It was around Highway 16 and Range Road 35 when another vehicle purposefully rammed the marked police truck and gave chase, forcing the RCMP officer to drive evasively as the vehicle made repeated attempts to ram the truck.

Additional RCMP members responded to assist the truck and were able to locate the suspect vehicle, initiating another pursuit which ended when the suspect vehicle stopped and a female was taken into custody without further incident.  The suspect vehicle was later determined to have been stolen.

In connection to this case, 28 year old Renee House faces nine charges including assaulting a police officer with a weapon, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and operation of a motor vehicle while being pursued by police.  House will face the charges in Stony Plain Provincial Court later this month, on January 24th.

The RCMP also confirm the accused and the prisoner in the police truck were known to each other.
