Social media threat leads to cleared classrooms on Friday.
At around 12:30 PM on Friday afternoon, the Stony Plain/Spruce Grove/Enoch RCMP responded to a possible bomb threat made over Twitter regarding the Spruce Grove Composite High School.
The RCMP, working with the Parkland School Division, cleared out classrooms on the second and third floors of the school in the early afternoon which allowed police to conduct a thorough sweep of the area. The entire building was declared safe at 1:45 p.m. while the threat is believed to have been a hoax.
According to a release posted on the school's website, no student or staff member was in any danger in the time frame of the initial post to the follow up.
The RCMP are continuing to investigate the matter.
