Proposed act would help current and former Alberta students

If the proposal passes, changes would come into effect February 1st 2019

The provincial government proposed a new act to support future and current post secondary students.

The legislation, An Act to Improve the Affordability and Accessibility of Post Secondary Education would amend the Post Secondary Learning Act.

The act would regulate tuition and mandatory non instructional fees.. The framework also allows government to cap average tuition, give increased predictability for international students and empowerthem to speak up on fee increases.

The tuition freeze will also be extended for a 5th consecutive year and if the proposal passes changes would come into effect February 1st 2019.
