Police arrest five following break and enter

Rural property northeast of Spruce Grove targeted

A group of five adults has been arrested after an attemped break and enter earlier this week.

Monday at midnight, police got a call from a woman inside a rural property north of Highway 16 and Range Road 264, when she heard people trying to break down the garage door.

All five suspects took off in the car after being confronted in the driveway by the woman's husband, who continued to follow them.

He abandoned the chase and got police involved after one of the suspects shot a gun at him, which fortunately didn't injure him.

With the help of police dogs and a helicopter, officers tracked down all five hiding near the empty car a short time later.

The car was determined to be stolen, along with a gun safe, rifles, and a shotgun.

Methamphetamine was also recovered at the scene.

21-year-old Elliot Steinhauer, 24-year-old Chantel Cardinal, and 18-year-old Dorian Hunter from Edmonton were all arrested, along with 25-year-old James Auigbelle and 34-year-old Aaron Auigbelle from Morinville.

Each were hit with 14 charges, while Steinhauer and Aaron Auigbelle were handed two more each.

Hunter and Cardinal were released on bail, while the others were kept in custody.
