113 in Spruce Grove, 232 in Stony Plain between Aug. 2-5.
As is tradition, Parkland RCMP saw an increase in files this past long weekend.
Between Aug. 2-5, officers responded to 113 incidents in Spruce Grove, and another 232 in Stony Plain, making it a total of 345 reports. RCMP say that doesn’t include calls that they consider to be unrelated to it being a long weekend.
A sum of 80 charges were handed out, most of which were traffic violations in Stony Plain, where RCMP and Sheriffs patrolled the town at an increased rate. The other largest contributors to charges were drug offenses and break and enters.
While 34 files are still under investigation, most of the remaining incidents are considered non-criminal or did not have enough evidence to pursue.
The RCMP says holidays generally carry a higher amount of crime, especially during warmer weather.
