Seven storey to include library in seniors residences
Stony Plain Public Library says it's chronically undersized in its current location, based on provincial standards.
But that's getting set to change in the next year, as construction has started on a new building on 53rd Avenue, just west of 50th Street.
That's the site of a new seven storey seniors residence, where crews have started work on the building's foundation.
The Town sold that land to M and V Properties - the private developer building the new units.
But Stony Plain also agreed to buy back roughly 15,000 square feet on the main floor, which will house the new library.
The building is on track to be finished by next September, with the library set to open in November.
The town got a $250,000 dollar from the province. The Library is also kicking in $1 million to the project.
