A new collaborative transit service in Stony Plain and Spruce Grove has been given the green light.

After multiple years of planning, the current HandiBus Program and Specialized Transit Service will merge to establish a single Accessible Transportation Service. The transit will be available for seniors aged 65+, and anyone over 16 with disabilities. STS users aged 55 to 64 will keep their eligibility when the new system is implemented.

In combining the two programs, no additional fleet purchases will be necessary and current drivers for both programs will work together, effectively saving extra costs.

The program is scheduled to be up and running on February 3rd.
