Man facing charges after Amber Alert arrest

47-year-old facing gun, drug, theft charges

Edmonton Police are pressing charges after making an arrest related to an Amber Alert issued on Friday.

At about 2:40 that afternoon, a man drove up toward McNally School on 105th Avenue, and asked a 14-year-old boy about another student at the school, before threatening him with a gun and yelling at him to get in the vehicle.

After the boy ran towards the school instead, the driver looped back in the same direction, and found the 14-year-old girl he was asking about.

Witnesses say he took her cell phone, and that she eventually got into his car.

School officials reported the incident to police immediately, which led to the Amber Alert.

The girl was found unharmed, and the man arrested at of 97 Street and 118th Avenue.

47-year-old Jacques Sennesael is facing seven charges, including kidnapping with a firearm and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Police say he and the child knew each other, and that Child Protection Services is continuing an investigation.
