The street from 53 to 54 Avenue closes at 7 p.m. for construction.
The Town of Stony Plain says the final lift of asphalt in Phase II of its Downtown Redevelopment will be laid later today.
The work on Main Street from 54th Avenue to 53rd Avenue will result in a street closure beginning at 7:00 p.m., and running until completion. Starting Aug. 22, there will be temporary road closures to allow for the pouring and curing of crosswalks in the same area as well.
Also on the construction docket is the prep work for the pouring of new sidewalks. The Town says this will occur on a Sunday in late-September to minimize the impact to businesses, and will be weather-dependent. The sidewalks will be ready for pedestrian traffic the following morning.
The Town says plans to accommodate any businesses open on Sunday are currently being discussed.
