Local RCMP Investigating Highway Death

One killed, two others injured on Highway 16.

Tragedy occurred on Highway 16 yesterday morning, as a two vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and an SUV resulted in one person's death and injuries to two others.

Stony Plain RCMP say the crash happened around 10 a.m. on Highway 16 and Range Road 13 when the truck, trying to turn east onto the highway, struck the eastbound SUV.  The 56 year old driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital in life threatening condition, but sadly she would succumb to her injuries.  Two other people in the SUV, a 26 year old woman and a young girl under the age of 12, would be treated at the hospital with minor injuries.  The driver of the pickup wasn't injured.

The RCMP say no charges have been laid at this time, but the collision is still under investigation.
