Stony Plain/Spruce Grove/Enoch RCMP will now simply be called Parkland RCMP.
With local RCMP expected to begin sharing one office in the fall, they will now share a name as well.
As of Thursday, the Stony Plain/Spruce Grove/Enoch RCMP is known as Parkland RCMP.
“Although we have essentially been one detachment for several years, because of the new building, the name change was appropriate at this time,” said Detachment Commander Mike Lokken.
Lokken says the new facility will make a big difference for staff.
“All being under the same roof, having one front counter, having our plain-clothes section and analysts readily available for our uniformed officers, and not having to drive back-and-forth and communicate through phone or email,” he said.
Enoch will remain involved with Parkland, but will run a satellite detachment with 10 of the 89 local RCMP members. The new office will be on Campsite Road in Spruce Grove.
Lokken says once the construction is complete, the RCMP will install its own systems in anticipation for an early-September opening.
