Smoking cannabis will remain prohibited in public campsites and playgrounds
Hikers will be able to smoke cannabis at registered campsites in Canada once the product is legal.
In addition, hikers in national parks in some provinces including Alberta will be allowed to smoke on hiking trails and in the back-country.
However, officials say no one will be allowed to smoke in common campground areas or playgrounds.
Rules for the public areas including day use will vary based on the province and where the park is located.
Banff and Jasper national park won't allow smoking in public areas.
