Drug Bust in St. Albert

Local RCMP Drug Unit assists in search warrant; fentanyl recovered.

On October 19th, the Stony Plain/Spruce Grove/Enoch RCMP Drug Unit, in conjunction with the St. Albert RCMP Drug Unit and the Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response (C.L.E.A.R) Team from K Division, executed a search warrant at a St. Albert residence.

During their search, authorities recovered 200 grams of powdered fentanyl, Canadian currency, a stun gun, three cell phones and other paraphernalia used in drug trafficking.  RCMP members also uncovered a small production set up in the residence, in which the accused appeared to be both processing and packaging fentanyl for sale.

In connection to this search, Kelley Williams of St. Albert has been arrested and faces the following charges:

  • Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking
  • Production of a scheduled substance (fentanyl)
  • Possession of methamphetamine
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Williams appeared in Stony Plain Provincial Court yesterday.

The opioid crisis is a problem nation wide, with drugs like fentanyl causing opioid-related deaths in Canada to be on pace to pass 3,000 this year.
