Crisis calls for Alberta women shelters up 10%

The ACWS released these numbers Tuesday and it shows shelters are serving more women, kids and seniors than ever before.

New data from the Alberta Council of Women's Shelters are showing crisis calls are up 10 percent in two years in Alberta.

The ACWS released their 2018 stats on Tuesday which showed shelters are serving more women, children and senior than ever before.

There are no shelters in Parkland County thus making people either go to Edson or Edmonton.

Kai Shuler is with the Stony Plain FCSS and says it can be difficult for people in the tri-region to find the shelter help.

Shuler adds there were more than 800 domestic calls made in the Parkland region from January to October of this year.
