Gym closure dampens grand opening last year
The provincial government says Copperhaven School in Spruce Grove is on track to have a gymnasium by September.
After opening its doors last September, issues with the gym's floor forced school to be without a gym for its first year.
Infrastructure Minister Prasad Panda gave an update on the situation on Thursday.
"(The Ministry of) Infrastructure noted some unevenness and cracking to the gym floor (last fall). Over the past four months, my department has been working with the contractor to rectify this situation," he said.
"Work is expected to be completed over this summer, making the gym available for the next school year.
Copperhaven School has roughly 600 students enrolled in Kindergarten through Grade 9.
