ALERT's ICE Unit's latest arrest has a Stony Plain link.
On Wednesday the Internet Child Exploitation Unit (part of Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams - ALERT) arrested 60 year old Rae Neveu after a week long investigation prompted by a tip from the public.
Neveu faces charges of child luring, possession of child pornography and accessing child pornography.
According to the investigation, Neveu operated an unlicensed child-care home in Edmonton and is also an employee at the Stony Plain Children's Services office. While the early investigation indicates no children were physically harmed, it's believed by ICE Neveu was alone with children at his home and work. At the time of his arrest, nine children were using the services provided by Neveu's unlicensed child-care home. Police say Neveu's home has been used for the service for about 10 years.
Additionally, Neveu is also accused of having explicit sexual conversations with underage victims online- including the exchange of photos.
The investigation is ongoing, while the Alberta Ministry of Children's Services is co-operating with police and also looking into the situation internally.
