The goal is to make researching care options more accessible.
Albertans are able to explore their options for continuing care facilities through Alberta Health Services’ new online directory.
AHS released its new service earlier this week in response to the Long Term Care Information Act that was established in June of last year. This act aims to provide more accessible and transparent information on these facilities.
The directory includes details on accommodation costs, and facility food, care, and service reviews from both families and residents. Photos, maps and contact information are also included for each facility.
The site offers information on all 345 of the province’s publicly-funded facilities, including home care and end-of-life services.
AHS says that about 7900 Albertans moved into a continuing care facility in the past two years.
